Stepping Numbers

I am a bit of a numbers geek at times, so of course, I like to look a little closer at some of the numbers behind the individual days.

First up is the highest day for the week which was Tuesday with a total of 17,391 steps. While the lowest day was Wednesday with a total of 15,351 steps.

I hit my daily step goal a total of 7 times this week and walked a total of 115,877 steps. Giving me an average of 16,553 steps per day across the week. With my steps this week that gives me 249,428 steps for the year to date.

This Time Last Year

Looking back to Week 2 of 2016, following are some of the step numbers for comparison. I walked a total of 36,899 steps with an average of 19,557 steps per day. The highest day was 24,598 and the lowest day was 16,673. To read more check out Walking Update – Week 2, 2016.

Other Thoughts

The highest day for my walking since I started recording the data was the 29th of October 2015. That is some time ago now and at this point, I have not come all that close to going past that since than. I will say that I do somewhat remember that day well.

It was while I was travelling in New Zealand and walking around the city of Wellington. I did not spend much time thinking about the distance I was going to cover on the day, I just picked out somethings I wanted to look at and set off on foot. There was one point that I did consider getting a bus back to the hotel, but it was a little to complicated the figure out on the spot at the time.

I do like the idea of having personal records that I try and beat from time to time. But the problem I have is that I do not want it to be a primary focus of my life either. What I am saying is that I do not want to be pushing every day or even each week to get more steps and beat my records. But from time to time it might be interesting to give a try.

The streak is now up to 127 days, aiming to walk 15,000 steps per day for 400 days.
